SATRAI Living Lab
Smart spAces using IoT, middlewaRe, and AI
Welcome to the SATRAI living lab’s website!
Welcome to the SATRAI Living Lab, an experimentation center at the forefront of exploring the integration of IoT, middleware, and AI in smart spaces
SATRAI is part of the DiSSEM research group of the SAMOVAR Laboratory at Télécom SudParis
SATRAI is a cutting-edge living lab dedicated to exploring the vast potential of the Internet of Things (IoT). Our mission is to create adaptable IoT applications that can learn from their environment and respond accordingly, providing real-world solutions for a range of industries, from elderly care facilities to office buildings. Our living lab has multiple locations, like the ICS Forth Building in Heraklion, Crete, the Etoile Building of Telecom Sudparis, where we deploy devices and boards to develop and test our algorithms. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art computing and networking devices, providing us with the tools we need to make a real impact. At SATRAI, we are dedicated to constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in IoT. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to expand our operations and extend the scope of our work. With a focus on exploring AI applications in IoT, we hope to contribute in shaping the future of this rapidly-evolving field.
We believe in the power of Digital Twins (DTs) to revolutionize the way we interact with the world around us. By creating mirrored digital worlds of physical spaces equipped with IoT devices, we can perform real-time analysis and use Machine Learning (ML) to simulate what-if scenarios. These simulations can then be used to inform decision-making and autonomous actuation, enabling us to create truly innovative applications that respond to the ever-changing needs of our environment.
We are proud to be a part of the IoT community and strive to create innovative solutions that have real-world impact. Our goal is to create smart spaces that are not only technologically advanced, but also accessible and beneficial to everyone.
Thank you for visiting our website, and we look forward to sharing our research and discoveries with you!

PlanEMQX
PlanEMQX is a prototype built on top of the EMQX message broker, enabling adaptive data exchange in IoT environments. This is achieved by (i) refining per-subscription data flows based on the applications deployed in the environment, (ii) dynamically assigning drop rates or priorities to data flows according to the requirements of the subscribing applications, and (iii) enabling […]

EDICT
EDICT is a simulation tool for evaluating the performance of Edge interactions in IoT-enhanced environments. The standard NGSI-LD (Next Generation Service Interfaces-Linked Data) protocol specification is used to represent systems deployed in IoT-enhanced environments. EDICT then generates a performance metrics dataset as a CSV file by relying on queueing network models. Implementation The source code for EDICT […]

PlanIoT
PlanIoT is a framework-based solution that enables adaptive data flow management at the middleware-layer using automated planning methodologies. This is achieved via the following core software components: (i) a queueing network composer; (ii) automated planning modeler; and (iii) an AI planner. For more details about the PlanIoT framework, you can check this paper. Implementation The […]
The Internet of Things has the potential to change the world, just as the Internet did. Maybe even more so.
